"Ok S, you gotta finish this exercise. Ok now, shall we start?"
S was looking at the worksheet uninterested. She tried to avoid answering any of the questions given. The moment I asked "Shall we start?", she made excuses. A lot of excuses which really tested my patience. I thought I was gonna lose my temper but phewww I didn't.
She wanted to taaaaaaalkkkkkkk. Just talk! She kept talking and talking. When I asked her to answer the question first, she took the pencil, jotted down the calculation solution but didn't make it to a finish. She stopped suddenly. Then, she said something to me.
"I am tired. I had to go to school and study. Then at noon I had to stay back until evening for extra classes. I am too exhausted."
"Ok, let's talk."
"YEAAAAAHHHHHH. Ok kak, can you share anything about your experiences during your studies period?"
"urmmm... well.. Which one do you want to listen?"
"Something bad or worst you've had done."
"HAHAHAHA. Okay, let me tell you about it..."
*laughed out loud over my stupid/clumsiness/naughty actions that I told her that night.*
S said I was looking very funny.
"Your reaction is so funny! I can't help myself from not to laugh"
*Continued laughing*
"Well kak you're weird. WEIRDO."
urmmm.. Honestly, she is kinda true. I am quite weird. A weirdo. But, it's okay as long as she will remember me with the title. haha. S said that she loves how her Science teacher teach her. She loves how that teacher doesn't push the students much. He gave the students space to talk, express what they want to deliver which make them really enjoy the class.
"I love talking to my science teacher.Just like you, kak."
awwwww. Does she say she loves me too? awwwwww.
S is a bright student. She's very clever. But the thing is she doesn't like to be pressured and pushed to be the best. She complained to me how hard she's been pressured although she knows herself that she can do good at studies. What she needs is an encouragement! I know it's super challenging these days, you need to send your children to the school with hope they will get straight A's academically. But somehow, have you realized how tired are they?
I believe every children has their own speciality. We are very unique creatures with different talents, capability and personalities. I understand with S huge responsibility as a daughter, a student to obtain a handful A's to make everyone proud of. Will it be everything for her life?
I told her to make herself satisfied. Do not compare yourself to others. Do your best and make yourself happy with what you've struggling for. I am not good at giving advice, all I can do is to put trust on her ability. From that night, I told myself you're here to help her not to just helping her to get an A but to help her to figure out that life is not about getting A's but life is about enjoying the ride to get A's.
Get it?
Whatever you're doing, do sincerely. Don't forget to keep yourself happy with things you're doing. S said she can do better with enjoyable atmosphere. So, yeah am gonna be a clown for her every tuition session we have. hahaha.
